Parent Advisory Council
ESCs are obligated to train all Independent Project Districts regarding the local migrant PAC to ensure that meaningful consultation with migratory parents is incorporated into the planning, operation, and evaluation of the local MEP.18
The Texas State PAC Initiative and the TEA offer presentations on how to train and on what topics to address. Click here to access the ESC training resources available for implementation of a PAC.
The training should include:
- Organization of a PAC
- Election of officers
- Meeting order and activities
- What meaningful consultation looks like
- Notifying parents of PAC meetings
- Documentation to retain to demonstrate specific requirements of PAC meetings19
